Stupid

What is it with kids and calling other people stupid. Of course this had to happen, Erin has been at her new school precisely 4 days and Scott called her stupid this morning and reminded her that she goes to a remedial school! Damn this is the one of the things I cant handle. Remedial has such a bad connotation attached to it. In fact I hate the word, she is doing exactly the same work she was doing at the other school just 3 times the attention she was getting before and it is positive attention.

Aah the joys of teenagers :oP
My stepson spent the entire holiday calling his younger {& ironically, much brighter} brother a "retard" & a "co-ord".
WTF a "co-ord" is, I don't know - some kind of insulting teen slang - but it had the desired effect.
Boy, do they know how to push each other's buttons!
I have no advice, only eternal gratitude that I do not have to parent this creature full-time, LOL! When he turned 14, he grew horns & a tail & when he's not taunting his little brother he's in a Mixit/Facebook induced stupor.
Totally delightful!

Something only a brother could say!
Sorry not much help from me but Aaron knows just how to wind up his older sisters and would probably say something similar or worse! LOL Luckily they are learning ever so slowly to ignore him.

He probably would call her stupid even if she wasn at the new school Jo. Dont overreact and try to protect her too much. Its normal, as you can see from your previous commenters who have teens.

I also *lose* it when Honey calls Lulu names (often around the glasses issue). Very hard.Paricularly when the victim is not a retaliator. Lulu is always bitterly upset and sometime I wish she would just bite back!!! LOL

My oldest also calls the younger idiot, stupid or dumbass and the younger is the one doing far far better at school. Children do that to shut each other up, don't see it as such a bad thing - it is a "normal" even though we don't like it thing.
Hurtful, not thoughtful but he's a boy/man.

My son is extremely happy in the "special needs" school he goes to - encourage her, she will be fine! They tend to blossom when they are in the right school.

You forget as an adult how cruel kids can be!

Yip - my 10 year old calls his 7 year old brother 'stupid' and all sorts of names (and as Candice said - ironically the younger one is actually the brighter one!)

Oh my word! Do I have these things to look forward to as well...in like 10 years time?

Heaven help me!
I am without advice I'm afraid but I sympathize entirely.
